Tshering is from Trashigang in eastern Bhutan, though she was born in Thimphu and grew up as the only daughter in a family where care and discipline went hand in hand. Her father worked as a contractor, her mother ran her own business, and together they gave her something more durable than comfort — a clear sense of right and wrong, and the groundedness to act on it. She credits them plainly for who she is today. Basketball was a serious part of her life through school and into college, competing at both school team and district level. It gave her some of her closest friendships and a lesson she still carries: that you cannot do everything alone — that trust, communication, and people who support each other matter as much as individual effort. She completed her undergraduate studies in India — her first extended time away from home — and traveled to Thailand during breaks, later attending an international travel fair in Delhi where she encountered the particular kind of connection that comes from meeting people across cultures through shared stories of place. Her hardest hike was Jomolhari, starting from Gunitsawa base and reaching Soe Gewog in a single day — nearly fourteen hours of continuous walking, carrying her own luggage across changing terrain. What Guests Said

We just completed an amazing 11-night trip to Bhutan with MyBhutan. Tshering Yangchen planned the trip for us. She did a great job, and got us exactly what we requested, even when we made some unusual requests.

Our guide, Sonam Tshering, and driver, Kinzang, were with us for the entire 11-day journey. They were both exceptionally good. They were always punctual, and provided excellent service.Sonam spoke perfect English, and was very knowledgeable about Buddhism and about Bhutan’s history, animals, and plants. He’s very good at spotting animals, and answered all of our questions very well. He has a great sense of humor.Kinzang was an excellent driver, including when driving on muddy roads. He went way beyond his role as a driver, by joining us on the two most difficult hikes, where he helped carry the elaborate and delicious lunches that MyBhutan provided for us.We stayed a 3 luxury lodges: Como Uma Punakha, Gangtey Lodge, and Zhiwaling Heritage in Paro. All three had amazing service, food, and views. They were among the three best places we've ever stayed. We also (at our request) stayed at the Druk Hotel in downtown Thimphu, which was more modest, and at a farmstay, which was a great experience. On our last day, Sonam Tshering surprised us with an amazing, gourmet picnic lunch. We paid extra for an SUV, and got a GWM Tank 500. We’d never been in a Chinese car before, and were very impressed by this new, luxurious, high-tech SUV.We will always remember this adventure. Thank you so much Sonam Tshering and Kinzang!
