Dorji Wangchuk

Dorji grew up in Samtse, in Bhutan's southwest, where a simple childhood surrounded by family left him with something that has defined him since: a genuine ease with people from different communities and cultures. Samtse sits close to the Indian border, and that proximity to people who spoke other languages and held other traditions broadened his understanding of human connection early. He was a quieter kind of high achiever. During his high school years, he received two certificates from His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck for being an overall topper — recognition he still carries with a degree of modesty, aware that it tends to surprise people who have just met him. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management. He has played volleyball, basketball, and khuru at the school team level, and sport remains a thread running through his life outside of work — alongside a natural pull toward meeting people from other cultures, something his role at MyBhutan gives him in abundance. Paro holds a particular draw for him: its peacefulness, its landscape, and the way Tiger's Nest rises from the cliffside as though it has always been there and always will be.
