Sudesh Pokhrel

Sudesh Pokhrel (སུ་དེཤ་པོག་རེལ) Based in Thimphu, Sudesh works as a services manager, where his role spans end-to-end operations — the kind of work that keeps everything moving behind the scenes. What he enjoys most isn't the logistics, though; it's the people. Meeting and developing business with new clients and agents is where the job comes alive for him, turning routine into relationships. When he talks about Bhutan, he keeps returning to Bumthang — a place he describes as the country's soul. The valleys, the temples, the slower pace: it's somewhere he says he could never tire of visiting, the kind of landscape that resets you. Outside of work, he's drawn to storytelling, writing, and photography — three different ways, really, of doing the same thing: paying attention and capturing what's worth keeping. His favorite dishes are chese momo and shamu datshi. And he holds to a principle borrowed from Chomsky, one that says a great deal about how he sees the world: "If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all."
