Free Soul Campaign
རི་བོ་ཇིཀྲུ་ཌེཀFree Soul is an interactive intensive program that provides rural students with a platform to showcase their talents and explore their interests with likeminded professionals in an urban setting. The title ‘Free Soul’ originated from the mission of the program - a soul is not complete if it is not provided with the freedom to learn. Teachers at the Somthang Central School, in a remote village in the Zhemgang district, and Chukha High School created Free Soul after identifying a lack of programs that catered to rural students who excel in their studies. Free Soul is for those students who have the passion but lack the support. The first Free Soul program was initiated in July 2015. Somthang students making the 12-hour bus trip from Zhemgang to Thimphu, and Chukha students came to the capital city to participate in dance and music classes, hikes and football games. With help from the MyBhutan team, students were able to engage with professionals within their field of study to create connections and acquire skills that go beyond one visit.
